Due to some family affairs I had a 12 hour trip by train from Ringkøbing/Denmark to Munich/Germany. I challenged myself to record everything I saw with pen and paper to end up with a complete leporello-sketchbook finally. Use scroll wheel or drag and drop the picture to navigate through 280 cm of urban sketching. A complete sketchbook a day …
Some screenshots taken from Locked In – A Graphic Novel by Johannes Bayer. The spreads are designed that they can be connected to each other and can be viewed as a kind of a long leporello.
Locked In has been featured in the critically acclaimed komma-magazine by Hochschule Mannheim – University of Applied Sciences. Moreover some spreads have been published in “Freistil – Best of European Commercial Illustration” and “Graphic Design 2″.

Back from South of America. Had been to Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands and Peru. To get a better overview of some the world’s biggest and ancient geoglyphs we had a funny flight across the famous Nazca-Lines located in southern Peru. The Nazca lines were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
As the Nazca Culture left its impressing marks in the Nazca Desert, Marc Ecko tagged the Air Force One (as part of a giant staged campaign), we (of course a bit more modestly) eternalized our lovely Chicken Or Beef-Girl on the nose of plane OB_1302, based at Aeropuerto de Nazca Maria Reiche. Nazca-posterprint and stickerpacks available at Shop.ChickenOrBeef.de. More pictures behind the scenes in our magazine and blog about design, art and traveling: Magazine.ChickenOrBeef.de.
Can’t wait to prepare the travel bags, sketchbooks and camera equipment for our South of America Tour this summer!!! We will be on the road in Peru, Ecuador and and will say »hello« to giant turtles on the Galapagos Islands! As usual we will be back with new illustrations, pretty shirts, fancy stuff and tons of new ideas! To bridge the time we made the tour-poster and another one called “Nothing To Declare” available for sale as high quality prints at ChickenOrBeef.de (width: 500 mm, height: 700 mm). Although they come to you signed, “officially” sealed and packaged in rolls we didn’t want to deprive you from (printed) creases on the posters.
Here comes the new Jotopia T-Shirt design. It is inspired by our trip to Australia and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, where you have to be really aware of highly lethal box jellyfish and always should wear such fancy stinger suits. In case you got stung by one of these cute little sweeties you have at the most about 50 seconds to disinfect the wounds with vinegar, which is desposed at most of the beaches at the west coast of Australia and to start with cardial and lung massage. Don’t worry! – Having always worn such suits, you will still have the pleasure of new Jotopia designs in the future. The Box Jellyfish Shirt is available for sale at KatRock’s Jotopia-Super-Online-Store ChickenOrBeef.de now!!!
Feel free to drop us a line in case you want to preorder this shirt. Enjoy with salt and vinegar!
Another parcel – from Australia – containing SemiPermanent 2010, 2nd Edition. “It’s our first hardcover book and is very very cool”, says Andrew from Design is Kinky. There’s nothing more to add and the “Building Jotopia”-illustration made it into the book – side by side to admired artists such as Tara Mc Pherson, Timba Smits and Alex Trochut. By the way, the illustration is the companion piece to “Destroying Jotopia” which was eternalized in the the 1st 2010-Edtion of SemiPermanent. More information in the Publications-area.
Just received a copy of the Semi-Permanent 2010 book by Design is Kinky from Australia. Building Jotopia is the companion piece to the Destroying Jotopia illustration. For those who haven’t realized yet: it’s also inspired by a rather well known movie poster… UPDATE: Fresh from the printer: the new dark-chocolate-4-color-screenprinted Building Jotopia shirts with woven label in the neck and additional label on the back seam. Get them at KatRock’s superstore for shirts, prints and art ChickenOrBeef.de
Frohes Noise and a happy new year which starts with the destruction of Jotopia. The T-Shirt-design which will be available in spring was inspired by an old 60’s movie poster (“Gorgo”). It shows a godzilla-like creature having fun while playing around with the tiny buildings of a large city. Will keep you updated… UPDATE: Get this illustration as a handprinted, limited, numbered and signed 4-color-screenprint at KatRock’s superstore for shirts, prints and art ChickenOrBeef.de
