» GRAPHIC DESIGN INSPIRATIONS DAAB

Good things in life come to those who wait: two years after the announcement, seven kilos of pure Graphic Design Inspirations arrived just in time before Christmas! There's also a CD-cover by Jotopia (done for Livingroom about five years ago …) featured in the book, which is published by daab.
 |
Synopsis:
The graphic design landscape fans out dazzlingly between proceedures that are characterized by digital / technical parameters and design and a stage management of that which is personal, earmarked and hand-made. Photography, street art as well as other expressive forms of art, have a mutually inspiring relationship with design. In contrast to the past decades, all this is not necessarily entirely new qualitatively, but quantitatively it is impressively different. Graphic Design Inspirations compiles over 1.500 works from all across the world. Strategies that are conceptually and communicatively different, topographical quality, visual innovations and originality have been decisive in the selection process of this book. – daab

» TYPOSHIRT ONE INDEX BOOK

The book which is published by Index Book from Spain features shirt-designs by Levi's, Diesel, Billabong, Iriedaily as well as some shirts by Jotopia.
 |
Synopsis:
Featuring more than 1,700 unique designs from all over the world, TypoShirt One is the first book to focus exclusively on T-shirt typography. Spanning message and logo T-shirts to more abstract and arty models that transmit more cryptic messages, TypoShirt One showcases current and historical T-shirts from small, independent labels and artists to those created by globally recognized names and brands. Ever since the T-shirt crossed over from unadorned male innerwear item to a hugely popular unisex wardrobe staple more than half a century ago, no other piece of apparel has featured as many expressive and fascinating claims, statements, typefaces and “instant messages.” These transmitted messages gain an irreversible strength and power through the motifs that, in this book’s pages, are reduced to their substance, related to the form and content. Created for fans of graphic design, fashion and popular culture, TypoShirt One is an intriguing look at the wearable fabric canvases where these worlds–and words–meet. – Index Book

Locked In – A Graphic Novel by Johannes Bayer is featured with two double-pages in komma-magazine ("Kommunikationsdesign aus Mannheim")
 |
Synopsis:
"Visuelle Implosion"
Aquarell, Acryl, Gouache, Tusche, Polaroidtransferverfahren,
Wachsmaler, Marker und Kartoffelstempel
kamen neben digitalen Techniken wie 3D-Visualisierung
hemmungslos in einen Topf. Doch das Ergebnis
ähnelt keineswegs einem Potpourri. Allen Bedenken
angesichts der bunten Vielfalt an Techniken zum Trotz
bildet das Buch auf 96 Seiten eine absolute Einheit. Was
diese Arbeit herausragend macht, ist die Art, wie der
Bildrhythmus die Geschichte trägt. Oft bilden mehrere
Doppelseiten nebeneinander betrachtet eine fortlaufende
und zusammenhängende Collage.
Soviel Augenschmaus kommt an (...)
